Riverside Hotel Welcomes New Corporate Executive Chef Alex M. Gulal
The Riverside Hotel's Indigo Restaurant, Grill Room on Las Olas and catering services have a history of delighting locals and world travelers alike. Now, as part of "Next Wave Las Olas: A New Era of Refinement," the hotel is preparing to take things to an entirely new level. First up? The addition of Alex M. Gulal, the hotel's new Corporate Executive Chef.

Working with the Riverside Hotel's food and beverage team as a consultant for the past four years, Chef Gulal will now directly oversee the menu and guest experience at the four star, Zagat-rated Grill Room on Las Olas. There, he has already begun influencing the Grill Room's menu of exclusive, organic offerings with his personal passion for cooking with a light, delicate approach.

"We are extremely proud to have someone with Alex's experience and talent here at the Riverside Hotel," said A.J. Jabbour, General Manager of The Riverside Hotel and Senior Vice President of The Las Olas Company. "In addition to enhancing the Grill Room's menu, we are charging him with spicing up the Power Lunch program at Indigo."

With 30 years of experience, Gulal began developing a distinctive culinary repertoire in early childhood. He learned his craft working at his grandfather's restaurant in Turkey. His native Turkish pallet evolved with a Western European influence while working in the Strasbourg region of France. Inspired by the bold flavors of North American foods and the subtleties of Mediterranean cuisine, Gulal's vision for future diners on Las Olas is robust, natural and clear.

Prior to joining the Grill Room, Chef Gulal built now-renowned restaurants from the ground up and spent time honing his skills in India, New York, Turkey and San Francisco. Taking a unique approach to menu development, he's launched Mediterranean concepts in India and Italian restaurants in Thailand. Most recently as Corporate Executive Chef for Concord Hospitality Enterprises, Gulal opened steakhouses and seafood restaurants in Renaissance Hotels and Resorts.

"I am very excited to be joining the Riverside Hotel food and beverage team in an official capacity," said Gulal. "I've had an outstanding experience working with the team so far and together, we have big plans for the future of dining in Fort Lauderdale."
